This replacement fan solved our issues with NOISE and VIBRATION on our two Coleman Mach 8 AC units that we installed in 2015 and 2016. We were going to replace them, when we came across a forum discussion that mentioned defective OEM fan blades that were unbalanced and poorly designed/manufactured.
Installation of the replacement fan blade kit took 25 minutes and what a difference! You'll need a Torx and Phillips-head screwdriver.
How do you know if you need this kit? Remove four Phillips screws on top and lift off the plastic external shroud and check the part number visible on the top of the fan blade. The part number of current three-bladed replacement fan blade is 1472D504. It replaces the original six-bladed fan, part number 1472A504, from units made through 2015, and the early three-bladed fans, part numbers 1472B504 and 1472C504.
The 'D' series blade is better designed with tighter manufacturing tolerances. It is quieter. The mold has a stress-relieving radius where the fan blades connect with the fan hub that reduces the chance of catastrophic disintegration that has been reported by some. And the closer manufacturing tolerances improves balance for less vibration.
While you are on the roof, consider using a box cutter to remove the existing fan grill that is molded into the plastic external shroud. It not only restricts air flow, it also generates a lot of fan noise. I replaced the plastic grill with metal mesh from a home-improvement store attached with 1/8" cable clamps and stainless steel screws. It improved air flow and there less fan noise outside.
